Unread postby ADTF Academy » Mon Nov 22, 2010 11:49 pm

ADTF Academy and Bethel College Christmas Vault Clinic

Available dates are either Dec. 27 or Dec. 28 from 11 am till 6 PM
Location Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN just south of the Michigan Border.

Clinic is open to semi-experienced vaulters, who will contribute from more advanced information and instruction. This is not a camp for pure beginners it is designed for women vaulting near 9' or higher and Men near 13' or higher and have at least 2 years of vaulting experience and a general understanding of pole vault. The information that will be presented during this clinic is theory based and will be more information than a pure beginner needs to hear or can comprehend.

If you have been vaulting for a couple years and have attending many clinics and still have never been told why or how, come check this out. My stance is if I can't logically explain why to do something than you shouldn't listen to the model we teach. We are not in the business of saying coaches are right or wrong in the way they teach the vault just trying to show athletes another way to think or feel something to achieve the same goal of every vaulter and coach. To vault as high as possible as safe as possible.

Clinic will be instructed by Danny Wilkerson who is the private Coach of 2010 US Champion Mark Hollis (18'10) as well as coach of Mary Saxer, 3rd place finisher at the 2010 US National Championship (14'10"). Danny has coached numerous NAIA All-Americans, Michigan High School State Champs and Michigan All state Athletes in the vault and many other jumping and sprinting events. He is a USATF Level 2 Certified coach and member of the US National Pole Vault Coaching Staff.

Clinic Set up and Topics that will be covered and worked on.

Running Mechanics and Speed Development on and off the runway
Pole Carry and plant mechanics to set up an acceleration and maintenance of speed into the takeoff
Explosion training and improved ideology of how to actually jump at takeoff.
Gymnastics approach to the swing to inversion and the individual muscular contractions to cause it to occur with ease
How to develop a continuous vault from takeoff to clearance and not one that is segmented.
Mental development to improved performance and training for the upcoming season.

Lunch will be provided as well as a T-Shirt of US National Champion Mark Hollis whose blog can be found at pursuitof616.blogspot.com

Cost for the 7 hour long Clinic will be 60.00 and limited to the first 12 athletes who sign up for each day for a total of 24 athletes that will be allowed to take part. If the numbers interested is high enough I will look into maybe doing more clinics, but at this time my schedule is very busy so take advantage while you can.

Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend this clinic with their athletes and are preferred to be here during the entire clinic. Groups from same high school will receive a discount of 10.00 per person for 3 or more coming with coach. If a coach wishes to attend with no athletes please contact Danny for more information and are welcome to come and learn for a small fee.

For more information and to secure one of these limited spots please contact Danny Wilkerson at adtfacademy@rocketmail.com or by phone 616-260-1406. Spots will fill quickly so call early to secure a spot.
