Pirates begin road to recovery after arson

By John Gunther, Sports Editor

Charred remains of pallets and a scorched apron area around the pole vault pit are all that remain Tuesday morning after a fire destroyed the foam pit and damaged the surrounding area of the vaulting apron Monday night. World Photo by Lou Sennick.
Stan Solomon looked over the charred remains of Marshfield High School’s pole vault pit Tuesday, trying to make sense of an arson fire the night before that had caused some $25,000 in damage.

That is an absolute shame. Stan and Fran work so hard providing a great program for the community, and then this happens. Assuming it was vandalism, I can only hope those that did it are found and that they learn from their mistake.
