Did or will any of them be a 435 jumper as Kate was in college? And a National Champ as well?
Kate and I are friends so I question objectivly... All things considered, Its pretty impressive to see what Rick did with her in 2 years of HS and only 5'1" - 115 pounds! The Level 10 Gymnast in her didn't hurt either!

But seriously what are the potential for these girls... I have a second year vaulter going right at 11ft. She is 5'3" 115 better than average speed. no gymnastic background whatsoever... She can run and plant thats about all we worked on the first year... Continuing to work the invert phases!

Ha, ha! Very impressive...you know I always give you props, Rick. We are working our way toward your records...give us another 26 years and we may get there!

Annie Sidor had a gymnastics background as well, she is a junior and has a lot of room for improvement, we have worked on ground work for 2 years and now she is on 13' poles from 7 lefts and just starting to bend poles and work on the top end. The biggest thing is that she has many attributes that are key to being an exceptional vaulter:

-great attitude
-hard work ethic
-extremely coachable
-focus and determination on the runway
-amazing consistency
-dedication to mastery of drills
-supportive parents
-extremely supportive school for track/field (Dave Turnbull is the man)

I would say that if she can continue her hard work and stay healthy that she has a crack at breaking Sasaki's records (we all know how many factors have to align for people to meet their full potential). After clearing a PR of 11'6 a few weeks ago in Springfield, Annie grabbed her biggest pole and rolled over the bar at 12'...it fell after a few bounces, but very close. She is jumping at Simplot this weekend so hopefully she can finish her indoor season with another PR. Anyone that has seen her vault will agree that she is a long way from being maxed out!

After seeing Jill Doyle jump a few weeks ago I can say that she also has potential to jump very high this year! She showed some mental toughness to rally and clear 11' on a bigger pole after breaking her first pole. Kudos to her and her coaches at Jesuit, another school with great support for track & field.

Thanks Dan! I knew there had to be some missing athletes in there somewhere. That was the goal of this post, because digging through old dyestat lists and Reno results is some tedious work! Athletic.net is much easier to use...too bad it doesn't include historical lists. Nice jumping with you the other day!

As a side note Tom, are you aware that Pat Licari was coached by Rick Baggett?

Of course! In the NW, vaulters and coaches are almost always 2 or less degrees of separation from Baggett! :D

Thanks for helping me with the formatting, John. Someday you'll have to show me how you did that. Hope all is well for you and your family

I know the year is not over as yet, but I have just posted the only revision of "2012". Olivia Campbell vaulted 12'-1" at the State Meet.

And she did it from 5 lefts...pretty impressive. Not sure why she was jumping from 5, but if it works, it works. She is a beast and I hope that she continues vaulting at the collegiate level.

Congrats to 73-vaulter and your vaulters from Silverton; nice job on the boys champion plus two other placers!

Hopefully the 4 girls from our district that jumped over 10' (but had to stay home) will hit auto next year, since they all would have placed at state! Not to mention all the vaulters from C. Oregon except for the Lapine boys are returning next year...

It looks as though this will be only the second time in the 21st centry that the yearly leader will not be at or above 16'-0" for Oregon. In 2005 the leader was at 15'9" (which at the time made the top 20 list). and before that we have to go back to 1995 to find a year without a 16'-0" vaulter.

I noticed you have Ashley Schnapp at 11' 10", but in her Senior year she cleared 12' - 5"

1 * 12' 5.00 V F Jun 5 BorderDuel Track Class

Only reason I see it listed at Rick's on the white board of HS champions :D
