Brown setting sights on record
By CURT SYNNESS - IR Sports Writer - 04/12/06
How high can he go?

Time will tell the answer to that question regarding Capital pole vaulter Tyler Brown and his heavenward launches.

Yesterday at the season’s second Coaches Meet at Vigilante Stadium, in front of a sparse group who remained after the rest of the competition was long over, Brown established another school record and came very close to making a height which would have unofficially eclipsed the state mark.

First the Bruin vaulter cleared 15-4 on the very first try, breaking his 2-week old CHS record of 15-3. And then at 15-10, which is an inch over the state standard of 15-9, Brown had two near misses on his first and third tries. State records can only be set at the state track meets, and Brown is shooting for the long-standing mark held by his vaulting coach, Todd Foster.
