Started vaulting 2 days ago and need help

Ok, so I'm a sophomore girl, 5'7.5" 125 pounds. I joined track this year and a coach recommended I try pole vaulting. It's been 3 days practicing and I have a few questions. First of all, how long did it take you to get over the 7 foot bar? Because that's the one we have up now and I've been at practice for 3 days and still can't get over it. Which brings me to my second question. My technique is basically right but I slow down before I plant, which I know you're not supposed to do, but it freaks me out to go from full speed to brick wall in a split second. So is there any way to get over that? Or do I just have to keep at it until it doesn't bug me anymore? Any advice would be amazing =)

It took me about 4 months to get from zero to seven feet. I bet you'll get it faster than that :)
