Also to add to what Becca is saying. Remember to just worry about finishing a vault, not making the height. Keep up the good work!

It doesn't matter. If you want to pole vault high, it's not like the pole is some magical catapult that will fling you over the bar, where all you have to do is hold high and bend a lot. If you follow the drill, your grip will move back up as your technique improves.

Follow all of the above advice and you are definitely pulling with the top arm. That kills the swing and the pole speed. Get that pole plant high as you can and keep that top arm long.

Hey! I just watched your video and something I noticed was that you were looking around the pole instead of through the window. I watched it frame by frame; your speed was great at the end, your split on your take-off was good, and your swing was good as well. The only thing I suggest with your swing is FINISH IT!! You rotated at the hips instead of keeping that leg nice and long. If you're able to get that down your swing will be soooo much faster and it'll be easier to get vertical. Another thing I noticed is that you didn't put your left hand into the vault at all. In order for you pole to bend correctly and to use every ounce of energy, you HAVE to keep that left hand strong. Watch this video of Tarasov. The slow motion part at 42 seconds is a great example of keeping a strong left hand. I really hope this helps!! You're doin great and keep it up (:
