In Indiana, unless its changed, there is one class for track. There are 32 Sectional meets (top 4 advance) that feed into 8 regional meets (top 3 advance). you are only allowed 2 entries to the sectional meet per school, unless an athlete meets what they call the "3 participant standard" (which fluctuates between 14' and 14'6") which allows you to enter more. If you meet the 3 participant standard at the Sectional or Regional meets, you automatically advance, regardless of placing. I find that pretty fair. you're not excluded from participating in the post season if you have a stacked squad, but you still have to perform at a high level to make it through.

In Ohio we have 3 divisions I,II,III all having 16 Districts (48 total). Top 4 in each district (per division) go to one of 4 Regions. Top 4 in each region (per division) go to the state finals. So 48 kids make it in the vault each year in Ohio.

Just in one single district in Columbus, Ohio has 7 guys over 15'0"!!
Joe Uhle - Olentangy Liberty (16'8")
Chris Uhle - Olentangy Liberty (16'7")
Jake Blankenship - Gahanna Lincoln (15'8")
Austin Hicks - Olentangy (15'6")
Dominic Koah - Teays Valley (15'6")
Bret Myers - Big Walnut (15'6")
Michael Shibko - Dublin Scioto (15'0")

In MA it's broken up into Districts A thru G (Eastern Mass I - II - III - IV, Central Mass, and Western Mass I & II)

Top 4 from each District advance to the State Meet, plus if your District height would rank you within the top 10 I believe you can advance. State's is run as one meet with no breakups with Divisions or Classes.
