gymnastics or xc?

Well I'd say the popular answer is gymnastics.... It will help you stay in much better shape for pole vault, cross country can slow your short run down. and in pole vault we only have a short run.... I don't see anyone running from 200 ft. out :P

idk, if you only do polevaulting, then gymnastics, but if you are doing like 4 other events... that gets you really really really tired, i guess a little extra enderace wouldnt hurt...

At our school , we don't have this problem.XC is in the fall and gym is in the winter. Anyway, I won't do either through school...I do gym for the YMCA. I've been competing for six years and just got back from nationals. My pv coach has been telling people to try a bit of gymnastics because it helps so much. I'd probably say gymnastics if you can only do one. Plus, you can always run on your own, or with a friend!
