Vaulting with head scalp staples

Unread postby andy94566 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 3:46 am

So I broke a pole today which caused me to get 7 staples on the back I my head. I have a meet in a week but the staples won't be out for 10 days. The doctor told me I can run and stuff and that I don't new time off so what do you guys think? It's cool for me to vault or wait?

Wait.

It's not up for discussion, as far as I'm concerned.

I had a kid get staples late in the season last year and he was done, his doctor told him not to. Did you ask your doctor specifically if it's safe to land on your head? My guess is he would have said no!

Dude, I'd say call your doc again. Specifically remind him that you do POLE VAULTING and not RUNNING. A lot of people only think running when they think of track. Ask him about landing on a soft foam mat with staples and see what he says. You really don't want a concussion or something.
