He wants a solution, and although taking time off is a good idea, if you are like me, they may never go away. In this case, you just have to do anything possible to minimize pain. This includes, icing the area numerous times daily, before and after practice, making sure your shoes are in good condition, running on grass to alleviate pain on the shin. They may not go away but they might not be quite as bad. I've had them every year since the 8th grade and they never go away. I've just learned to deal with the pain because if not I would have to give up athletics and that is just not cool.

this is true but i have found a couple of days off will help most people otherwise maby a shinsplint sleve they work when you have them and need to run/vault

Does the sleeve work? I was not sure if these were shin splints or not because the general idea of shin splints in highschool has been so construed that I had no idea..I will be going to Del Rio here in a few days for like 4 days so I will maybe get better after that.

Get some good insoles for your shoes. Any shoe store, running store, or even the foot care section of any pharmacy has them. A good arch support will help prevent your foot from pronating, which is what causes shin splints. If that doesn't help, you might want to consider seeing a podiatrist and getting orthotics made for your shoes, basically a custom insert that puts your foot in the right position.

ah yes having good shoe/insoles always helps but the best cure is rest and i found that a sleve works very well if you have to vault/run on them.

So it is your take off leg right! You probably have a flat, decellerating take off. This will beat up the medial boarder of the tibia better than anything. Yes you probably need to take some time off, but until you fix your take off you're problem will just return.
