Last night i was playing basketball, i dunked it and the backboard broke and i fell on my wrists. Turns out i broke my left wrist and tore my tendon and will need surgery. The doctor told me no pole vaulting (of course, lol) but also said no lifting or anything with my left hand, which means i can't lift uppers period cause i would be unbalanced if i just did my right upper. Anyways, does any1 have something i can do othe than lifting with my legs??? I can't do budka's, but there has to be something any clues.

eeek!!!! I know its not funny but its a coincidence that you broke something because our track team was getting a pep talk from our coach and she told us litereally "you're in ur last weeks of the season, don't go breaking anything by playing basketball or something"..... :P

hey...i had the same problem about a wk. before our first indoor meet this year (except i hurt my wrist vaulting) , and I was out for about 5-6 wks. Still run/bike/eliptical...
You can also do abs...lots of abs...
and shrugs w/o weights and just holding your arms up or against something for sets of 30 secs. or so for resistence will help keep up the strength in your arms at least a little....
when i started getting a little strength back so i could hold stuff and whatnot, i tried to carry around a squishy stress ball to work on getting the muscles in my wrist back up to par...good luck!!!

That sucks!

You could do lots of body weight stuff... not sure how long it will be until you can even do squats or whatever with the bar... you could do lunges, heel/toe raises, crunches, sit-ups, v-ups, arch-ups, etc.

You can also do all sorts of plyometric stuff... think jumping stuff, stairs, bounding, etc.

If you want to work on your upper body, I would recommend doing everything that you can using therabands or tubing. As long as you can wrap it around a cast or gain some kind of grip on it, you can do resistance training for your shoulders, biceps, triceps,...basically everything without having to worry about holding on to a weight or putting pressure on your wrist.

When I was in gym I had to deal with a pretty bad stress fracture in my right wrist caused by spending four months of doing nothing but things on my hands because of various tears and broken bones in my feet/legs. It didn't help that the radiologist lost my x-rays for a month before I found out (during which time I continued to work out on it). Their solution was to get me running...and running...and running during our summer workouts. I also remember doing a lot of front twisting and flipping and just trying to not land on it when I over-rotated
