Abs and Back ridiculously sore.

Alrite, since Thursday I havn't really done much. Thursday in preparation for meets Friday and Saturday, we did run throughs to find marks. I went a couple times...and then after I was finished with that I decided to do sprints (probably 50 or so meters) with my usual 160 pole. After that, my abs absolutely killed. I only went like...6 times. Throughout that, I was basically working on maxing out my speed because when I plant, I know I'm not at my fastest, and was also trying to keep my posture up.

Friday, I was perfectly fine. Saturday, I wake up with my back and abs absolutely killing me...as well as a fever, so I basically spent the day in bed. Today, I'm a lot better, its just that I can't understand why my abs and back are still sore - never had anything this bad before.

Looks like I have a meet tomorrow, I still need to figure out how I'm going to vault (um, the more correct style where I keep my arms out and try to get a bit of a bend in the pole, but I can't get myself to collapse the arm and invert, or whether I should do what I did in indoor - invert as quickly as possible and roll over the bar...)

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

sounds like this situation sucks... id say rest till the meet, be easy on the warmups then just gut it out like a warrior

Sounds like you're sore from being sick, not from your workout. Focus on getting well and your body will come around.

Yeah, I figured it was that, but I've just never had anything like this before - usually a Fever is just like...a fever and maybe a cold, but no soreness (this bad anyways, but I guess its because I have to use my abs so much)

sometimes when you're sick you can get muscle soreness, maybe this is just one of those times. you'd probably be good taking advil or something before you vault if it really bothers you.

I can post an audio clip if you want.

Oh well, I'm better now, I think...Was pretty mad today because I only got 8'6" in a meet, and that is just horrible for me...(was my starting height in indoor)

Ok, new injury. My deltoid, but its just from vaulting...I kept my arm straight for a little too long (bottom arm) and well, when the pole pushes foreward, the force just goes into my deltoid.

Nothing bad, but man I'm stupid for having this happen twice...
