It looked like Hooker's coach ran out on the infield to congratulate him. No idea how that was looked on by the authorities.

Someone in Australian team colours is being pepper sprayed and tazered down on the track. Bloody hell.

Very close, but not over. He'll have two more attempts, because what would an Olympic session be without the pole vault running long?

We have official word that Yurchenko is injured and will jump no more. Hooker's got the gold, he's just jumping for the record.

Parker really did just say this...

As we wait for Hooker's second attempt, the stadium cameras have found an inflatable kangaroo in the crowds. Tie that down, mate.

Should just limp down the runway at 5.96 3 times so he could tell the grandkids he went out attempting the OR.

And now Hooker's getting a jiayou as well. He's timed out and he gets a miss without even an attempt.
22:35
Hooker's up on his feet now. If he misses (and nobody's hoping for that) he'll have an entire victory ceremony to rest. We hear "Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi oi oi!" down at the north end where the vault pit is.

He's over! OR for Steve Hooker!
22:39
He's on the runway. The pole is up.
22:38
One attempt remains. There's "Aussie Aussie Aussie" again. He'll take his last attempt before the medal ceremony.
