It looks like a pretty good lineup for Shanghai tomorrow.

Yes, good luck!
I met her recently in her last (I think) competition in Slovenia and it was very nice for me to speak with her after the competition. She told me also about this competion in Shanghai and her "travel around the world". I will pay attention to your updates.

It appears that we will be getting "live" scoring this year:
http://www.shggp.com/reports/re1820040.htmlApparently Eurosport will be joining the meet "in progress" as well, though I don't know if it'll be accessable from the US or not.

I haven't been able to keep it running for very long at a stretch, but I'm sort of getting the Russian Eurosport feed from Shanghai here:
mms://media.caucasus.net/station3I
think Isi just blew her opener.
But I'm not going to be able to stick around for the whole meet anyway. I've got "real life" to deal with in about 10 minutes.

Looks like Isi's got it won already. The fact that she opened at 4.60 instead of 4.70 seems to indicate that she's probably not feeling 100% yet. We'll see what happens next, but I'm not expecting 5.06 to happen today.

Wet, wet, wet - no joy for the Americans.
Lena wins it with 4.60 - 3 misses at 4.75

When I watched the competition today on TV I had the impression that Isinbayeva has noticeably lost a bit of weight. It might have something to do with that in addition to the cold she had, she apparently also had effects of food poisoning last week according to this article:
http://www.allsport.ru/archive.php?id=18972&s_s=&s_d=19&s_m=9&s_y=2008&b=0&l=40 If that’s true then it’s really no surprise why she dropped out of the finals last week and her performance today.
Though I have to say I find it very peculiar that every time she jumps a very low height for her standards like 4.60 or 4.72, which is quite beatable for the others, all of her competitors still manage to jump about 10 cm lower than her on those occasions. What's up with that?

good morning
I think Isi could have been a victim of a shallow box. Her second jump at 4.75 looked like her run was “stretched” just a little but not enough to make her come up as short as she did.
Didn’t look like a big pole, her grip was normal and she ran faster and better on her last jump.. and still came up short.
I thought her last jump was a good "Isi" jump based on the run and takeoff, I think she thought the same, and suddenly she found herself short.. coming down on the bar.
I looked at the bottom of the pole on the replay and it looked like it “flipped” to the side rather quickly! Which to me, might mean and under takeoff (which didn’t look to have happened) or a bad box.
My choice.. bad box..
