It couldn't have come as much as of a surprise for Svetlana to come out on top at Split, since the weak field would have made it seem almost a cinch that she or Fabiana Murer should win. Murer's seasonal best of 4.85m was the only SB of any contestant better than Feofanova's 4.75.
The results:
1. Feofanova (Europe/Russia) 4.70
2. Lisa Ryzih (Europe/Germany) 4.60
3. Murer (Americas/Brazil) 4.50
4. Caxia Li (Asia/China) 4.50 PB
5. Becky Holliday (Americas/USA) 4.35
What seems very strange is the number of vaulters with better seasonal bests who chose not to compete. That would include, of course, Jenn Suhr (SB 4.89) for the Americas, but also Europe's Caroline Hingst (4.72), Anna Rogowska (4.71), and Silke Spiegelburg (4.71), as well as two other Europeans with better records than Ryzih. All to the credit of Lisa, of course, for showing so well, although she clutched a bit at the final height, running through on two of her three attempts at 4.70.
