Vancouver 2010 Canadian Athletics Torch Bearers

From the top of my head, Debbie Brill, Perdita Felicien, Donovan Bailey, Kevin Sullivan, Tyler Christopher and Gary Reed are well known names and participants at olympics games missing from the list. Pole vaulters like our own Kirk Bryde, aka KirkB (who competed in Munchen 1972), as well as Dana Ellis-Buller, Kelsie Hendry and Doug Wood (still Canadian record holder) are also not here.

Maybe their absence doesn't mean they weren't asked--perhaps they were just busy at the time and/or nowhere near the torch relay route? I can't imagine Athletics Canada would deliberately omit gold medalists like Mark McCoy and half of the '96 mens relay including (and especially) Donovan Bailey...

You are probably right. It is not easy to find and synchronize all that people, but I am curious if they were on the preliminary list.

I wasn't asked, nor did I expect to be. I think you should at least make the Final in an Olympics to be honoured as a torch-bearer ... so I agree that a lot of other athletes that Pogo listed were conspicuously absent.

I need to correct myself:
- Kevin Sullivan is one of torch bearers
- one pole vaulter is on the list: Stephanie McCann (10-th place at 2004 olympics, PB 4.41)

I did not know Stephanie is from Vancouver, where I live now. I was living before in Kitchener, ON - the city Dana Ellis-Buller is from. I have nothing with Saskatoon (Kelsie Hendry) :) except driving through Saskatchewan (province) on my trip from Kitchener to Vancouver.
