Most Impressive DIII Runner I can remember

Unread postby ec1vaulter » Sun May 28, 2006 11:02 am

Macharia Yuot from Widener University was the 3rd male in history to win 3 events at the DIII Outdoor Championships in a single season.

This last weekend he won the 10,000m, 3,000m Steeplechase, and the 5,000m in that order over three days. This is the only triple to include any race over 400m.

This was his senior track year and he has one more cross country season left. What an unbelievable athlete. He was one of the lost boys of Sudan, and has been named DIII National Runner of the Year. Congrats Macharia!
What did you do to get better today?

Totally agree... 3000S, 5k and 10k in 3 days is just sick and wrong. However, in terms of best marks at the elite level, rather than events won and points scored, I think I would disagree. As the best of my knowledge suits me, I would argue that Edwin Moses might be the best D3 runner of all time, although I don't think he scored 30 points on his own..
