What can you learn at the summit

Unread postby stargrazer » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:06 am

Is the summit more for watching and learning or doing and learning. How much time would a high school vaulter actually get to do drills and to jump?

The high school and younger athletes have a hands-on learning-by-doing clinic on Friday. A couple hours? I don't remember exactly how long for each group because they stagger them and I just know it was a really long day for me. I think it was somewhere between 90 minutes and two hours on the pit and there are other stations where you do things like stubby drills.

The college and above ages have lectures.

And of course everyone gets to compete.

Just not sure whether or not it is better to do a 2 day camp.

It would be cheaper if you had to fly, but the excitement and the experience of the summit is great. My son liked the fact that he caould talk to the elite vaulters and ask questions about vaulting. Also the teachers and coach's the summit have are very good. Not to mention the exposure you can get from college coach's.

Sure we can do that. We are both registering as spectators so will have plenty of free time. Roman will get in on the 1st - I will be there on the 31st but suspect that I will be non compos mentis fairly early on that evening!! I hope to celebrate the founding of the U.S.S.A. with anyone else of like mind. ;)
