Sophomore gymnast help

Unread postby lakesidepv » Mon Mar 29, 2010 11:37 am

Finally have some video to post. So . . .

She is a gymnast by heart, but picked up vaulting real fast. I finally got her vaulting in April due to gymnastic practices. Thus, she's very raw. However, got her a little "hooked" which is exciting. Last year, she went 10'9 on a 12'1 140 MsStic.

Now, she's not very tall (5'6), but fairly quick and extremely strong.

I've posted (3) videos:
1.) Last year at our State meet at the end of May going 10'6 on a 12'1 140 MsStic

2.) This year going 10'0 on a 12'1 140 MsStic

3.) This year attempting 10'6 on a 13'1 140

I know that we have a lot of things to work on, but this is a motivated kid who is very smart. Suggestions are always so helpful. Thanks!

I don't think she's ready for the longer poles yet, but she will be when she starts jumping up at takeoff better and stops pulling too early in her swing. Her swing slows down because she bends the top arm too soon.

I bet she'd look good on my series of 12'6 Pacers (145-160) ;) I will be at State this year, PM me before then if you think she would benefit from them at that point. Look forward to seeing you guys! I coach at Ilwaco now, not sure if I will get any vaulters to state, but we're in the weakest district so it's possible. I'll go to State either way.
