Progression of World Record for men.

Unread postby Carolina Extreme » Thu Feb 19, 2004 8:56 pm

I am curious if anyone has, and I would love to see a progression of the American Record and World Record heights which lists each height progression with names and dates. Is there such a list?

The only one I have seen just shows who was the first to jump 15', 16', 17', 18', 19' and 20'. Which I would love to see again also. What I'm looking for is all of the progressions in between the even foot marks, if possible. Not that I expect to see my name in there. :crying: But we will see some of our friends mentioned multiple times.

I think Roger Ruth is the guy who keeps all those lists. VaultnGus knows how to get ahold of him.

Is PoleVaultPower awesome or what? I posted and a few minutes later... BOOM... there is the answer.

Maybe Becca should call it a "Search Engine for Pole Vaulters"

Thanks Brian! :D

You are right. I didn't think about Roger. He has World Record lists for all countries. I don't know if his lists go back to the extent I was thinking about.

Roger and I spoke about a new vaulter I was working with last year from St. Lucia. There was no official national womens PV record there so all she needed to do was fall over about 6'. She is about 6' 1" and a sprinter/triple jumper, so you wouldn't think it would be a problem. She ended up falling instead over a womens sprinter/long jumper from France and she never cleared a height.... But last time I saw them they seemed real happy. :D
