I currently weigh around 140lbs, our state meet is in 9 days, and i want to weigh in under 135 to use my warm up pole. Do any of you have any strategies? I've been told not to drink much liquids that day, or take an laxative.

Honestly, I've had to lose 5 pounds in one afternoon to make my weight category. It was many years ago and I didn't drink anything plus I ran 5 miles right before the world championships. At the event, I was depleted and did not do well.

I recommend a gradual weight loss over time and never an overnight method which will not achieve anything healthy for you. Plus, ensure that losing weight is safe for your height and weight, age and health.

Trying to lose that much weight will probably result in you not performing as well. I would try to borrow a shorter 140lb pole.

thank you! I weighed exactly 135 in the morning, but by time to weigh in, I was 1.5 lbs over. Another girl had to sweat out 3 pounds an hour before compitition, and she was exhausted and didnt do so well, so im glad I didnt over-do it.

What competition were you trying to make weight for?

I weighed in the vaulters at our state meet and everyone was pleased to find the scale was weighing very light. Everyone made weight and we were all happy.
