Speed = Height

This article has a cool little applet that lets you enter your height and speed to see how high you can vault. Unfortunately the speed is in MPH which is kind of a pain, but it is still fun to play with!

LOL...if you can manage to get 25 mph, you go 24 feet in the air...must hit that speed!!

you can go to google and type in "X miles per hour in meters per second" and it will convert for you.
i put my height in and did trial and error to find my pr height and aparently i can run about 9.16 meters per second if that calculator is true.

uuuuhhhhh ..... not too sure about the calculator. According to it my wife should only be able to jump about 13'8". I'm pretty sure it is off by about a foot.

This calculator is based on the "change in Kinetic energy= change in Potential energy" model.
A few years ago I built a "photoelectric speed trap" to accurately measure running velocities over a short distance (15m). My limited reseach by measuring my High school boys leads me to believe that this simple model will pretty accurately predict the height they can realistically achieve. These are vaulters of moderate skill and I would characterize their vaults as low takeoff angle - ram and drive. For those of you that have a good "pop" off the ground resulting in a higher takeoff angle, you will be able to exceed the predictions of this model.

If you can go 25 mph, I think your money is in DISTANCE RUNNING!!!

Ya...you'd have plenty of time to do several other events while others were finishing the long races!
