Vaulting Intervention?

Unread postby BadMotherVaulter » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:19 pm

My family has never been keen on my pole vaulting career. For the longest time, my mom would avoid high school meets for the fear of watching me kill myself.

Now I'm 23, still vaulting, and they think i'm insane for it. My grandpa recently told me, and I quote: "Boy, you're gettin' too old to be keepin' on a-doin' that pole vaultin. You got a job to be thinkin' about, bills to pay, a girlfriend to care for. You gotta be givin that up, boy." <---- He talks JUST like this... imagine Foghorn Leghorn.

Focus: Has anyone else's families tried to talk them out of the sport? Any interesting stories to go along with it?

Oh, and we all know I'm never gonna give it up. (never gonna let you down...) ;)
suck it up.
