I think by short run you are asking about 6 and less I assume. I've jumped 14-7 off 4, 15-1 off 5, 15-9 off 6, 13-5 off 3. I've witnessed someone do 14-9 off 4 and 15-6 off 5.

Just to clarify as per swtvault's post:
6 steps = 3 lefts
8 steps = 4 lefts etc.

Latest update: Paul Burgess (AUS) 5.30 (17'4.5") new 6 step world record. Gripping 14'10. Absolutely insane...

I thought he retired? Or are you talking about something that happened awhile ago?

Not sure on Burgess' competitive status. May be an old mark that I just recently heard about.

I'd love to have been able to watch that! (I bet he was also good in the triple jump, too!)

Averbukh's 5.70m was from 10 steps/5 lefts. I have video.

For women:

Not sure if these are "records" but Erica's short run pb's are:

4 steps - 3.70m
6 steps - 4.00m
8 steps - 4.30m
