In Need Of MAJOR Help :/

Unread postby BigMaC2 » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:18 pm

Hey Everyone... Im a total newb to both vaulting and to this site.

My name is Maccie, I am about 5 5' 170lbs.. so I am a very large person lol. I have been throwing discus and shotput since I was in 6th grade, and I have been in track since then...

This year (my freshy year) I tried polevault... as more or less a joke.. and I feel in love. Pole vault practice was sooo much fun, and now I really want to do it more and more and be able to compete in it..

I need a ton of help...
What are some "at home" practicing I can do?
What can I do to jump higher?
What can I do to run faster?
What can I do to maintain my grip?
How high should I be able to get?
How do I choose a pole to use?

So thats just the begining of my questions...

Thanks You So Much in Advance!!!

 Maccie

I suggest hanging a rope either in the basement or outside and practice getting vertical, I also recomend wind sprints on your own time.
