i NEED TO MOVE UP A POLE 15' 9" or 16'

I have a Pacer Carbon 165 lbs. 15' 0". It has a -19.4- flex on it. Last Saturday at Tennessee indoor I had my standards on 32 and was blowing through like crazy. I was thinking of going to an Essx because I jumped on those poles at Bell's and I like them a lot. I've only seen 15' 9" and 16' poles. I just want to get a 16' so it will save me trouble buying a 15' 9" but that may be entirely stupid. Can't I get a 16' pole and hold down? What pole should I get?

Thats a possibility. I really wanted to try an Essx and see how that goes because I think the system they use is genious. Plus, what happens if I get that pole and I blow through it after two jumps? Thats $500 that I just wasted.

i'm pretty sure that bruce makes a 15' 6".......
unless you're jumping 20-30 lbs over your body weight, I'd suggest a 15 170 or 175

it also depends how high you are gripping. if you are capping the 15 and not overbending and vaulting efficiently then maybe you need to move up length, but if you are gripping more than 6 inches down then a stiffer pole may be the right move

i agree with ashcraftpv go with a smaller pole with a greater weight rating.
you want to focuss on landing in the pit first and foremost, because if your standards were at 32 on the small pole it could be dangerous to move up to a 16' pole.

Ya 32" would be I think around 80CM. Sorry bout the confusion, in high school we go in inches. It's stupid. But I think I want more pole instead of a same height, stiffer weight because I was capping my 15' and had no more room to hold. I just dont want to get a brand new pole, jump on it a couple of times and blow through, that's the only scary thing about speding $450 on a pole. But I think I'm either going Pacer Carbon or Essx, preferably Essx.

You said that you had gone 14' in another post, dont go up any length in pole...at all. go down to a 14' pole and jump 15' on it, then try going back up to longer poles. in the end it's worth it.

i believe that it would be worth it for some people, but for a lot of vaulters it will be better in the end to vault (safely) on bigger sticks if it is possible. poles can be addicting. i was once addicted to a stiff 13-6 pole and it took a teammate breaking it for me to go to a longer pole. getting off of 14' poles can also be very tough as can be going to 14-6 and 15 and 15-6 poles and even longer lengths. sometimes form on the run and takeoff progresses quicker than in the rockback and on top. this is no reason not to try to clear 15 on a 14 from a shorter approach, but why not get in big sticks when it comes to competition. i would rather clear >15' on a 15' pole than 15' on a 14' pole.

I wouldn't, in reality you would probably get the feeling that you are going higher on a shorter pole than clearing the same height on a longer pole. I mean 14' on a 15' needs attention to rockback more, perhaps this vaulter should raise a bungee to about 18' and try to kick it and learn to use a longer pole so he clears heights like he should with an appropriate grip height. about 14'7" grip should be a 16' jump on average. Swing from your shoulders and get off the end of the pole.
