Rewraped vs retaped pole

Unread postby Mcleodjw » Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:52 pm

Hello Everyone,
What is the different between retaped and rewrapped poles?
I'm looking to purchase a used pole and the seller says it's been "retaped".
Now, I've taped the end of a pole for hand positions with medical tape.
I also know that the manufacturer performs a type of taping in their final process.

Any clues?

John

They probably mean they put some kind of tape over or replaced the decorative wrap that the manufacturer put on the pole. I would ask for pictures. It doesn't hurt anything, but I suppose it could be hiding damage. I think most people rewrap them to protect the pole if the old wrap was coming off, or to make their poles more distinctive.

When I get a used pole I take the old wrapping off and inspect for damage....if there is no damage then I rewrap it with colored tape I bought..... I have swapped poles around for awhile and have found bruises that will put it in the pile that gets cut up for training peices...etc...
