Hi,
My son is primarily a pole vaulter but he also runs the 100m and the relay.
Is there a shoe that can fit both needs? Can a sprint shoe be used as a pole vault shoe?
I would rather imagine that sprinting in a pole vault specific shoe is inadvisable.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A sprint spike has no padding on the heel. In my experience, high school athletes who pole vault in them are far more likely to develop shin splints and other pains in the lower legs.

I recommend a mid-distance spike as a good all-around spike. They are easy to find at affordable prices, are lightweight enough that an athlete could sprint in them, but have some padding for the jumps.

I pole vault and sprint, and the Nike Rival MD 6 is a good and inexpensive mid-distance shoe. Found them online at First to the Finish for about $30 - a good deal. M.
