I'm looking to purchase a series of poles of different flex numbers but same size/weight. Do I just call UCS/Spirit directly? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi,

If you are looking for the best price on Spirit's I would contact Pits-N-Stuff in PA. They will beat anybody's price on spirit's. The lowest I have seen have been on the Sky Athletics web site and mark and doug at Pits-N Stuff will match that price. Good Luck.

One more question and I know it'd be easier if I call the dealers but I'm still trying to research before I commit to buying.

In college I weighed 165# and I jumped on 5.00 165# Spirits cut 4 inches (never understood why my coach would cut poles). From what I remember the flex numbers were 21.0, 20.8, 20.4, 20.0, 19.8, 19.4, 19.0, 18.8, 18.4, 18.0, 17.6, 17.4. By the time we were in full competition my warm-up was the 19.8 and I even jumped on the 17.4 twice (gotta love Texas Relays with a smokin tail wind).

Now I weigh 185#, hopefully will lose 5#, but...
My question is if I get a series of 5 to 6, 4.90 Spirits at 185# is that the same as a cut 5.00? What flex numbers would be equivalent to the ones mentioned above?

I know the best thing to do is to borrow some poles and practice on them to see which fits the best but I live in New England now, poles are scarce, a place to practice indoors even scarcer (if not a college vaulter) and the biggest pole around here is a 15' 185# the next biggest is a 15' 165#...so there in lies the dilemna.

hmm, does essx have a try before you buy?? just kidding. sorry, i no longer live in little rock, would definitley be tempting to check em out if i still did. also, can't stand pacers; we had 5 break/shatter at my school my senior yr. i broke two in a row at LSU, my hand swelled up to a softball.

Hey, it's me, Dub.
Sorry no "try before you buy" on our essx poles. But we can set you up with a series of them, or just about anything. We may even have some used poles/discounted poles that might work if you are looking to save some $.
Feel free to call 1-800-753-7332, and we will be happy to give you any info we have....for free!
