What size of pole would be best for me?

Unread postby austin_tman » Sun Feb 21, 2016 4:16 pm

I am a senior in high school. I weigh 165 lbs. Unfortunately, I am not gifted with overwhelming speed. I have cleared 12' multiple times but have not gone higher in the last 2 years. I use a 13'6 165 pole. I get plenty of penetration into the pit. However, I have tried using a 14' 160 and a 13'6 175 and neither was successful. Last season I was able to use a 13'6 170, which I was the most successful with so far. Unfortunately, our school does not have that pole any more. Is there any size or type of pole that would be ideal for me?

Sounds like 13'6 170 would be the right pole. 14' 160 is the next step up in stiffness but if you tried that already, the 13'6 170 sounds like what you need. Depending on how high you are gripping, a 13' 170-175 may work too.
