Building a High Bar

I was thinking, since my friend's dad owns a hardware store, and since he's (hopefully) going to vault this year (he was just as good as me at the time he quit), we could build a high bar. I was thinking black Iron pipe, threaded so we can disassemble it and put some athletic tape where your hands would be so we can do high bar drills and rope drills(instead of doing them on the goal posts and bending them). The only problem I could see is maybe procuring some pads for underneath it, just in case. Anyone have some tips or suggestions?

Look for a program that has lost their vault program and call them. Unfortunately there is a number of them.

Jtred, instead of a high bar, build a set of "roll back" bars. Check them out here
http://www.bubbapv.com./Pages/GetVertical.htm . I didn't build the stand alone ones like Bubba did but instead I used galvanzed pipe in a U shape and hung them under my deck. I have a walk out basement so the bottom of the deck is about right for a set of the bars. The roll backs are nothing more than what we used to call "skin the cat" on the playground monkey bars. Check out the link. Based on what I've seen on your videos I believe it would help. Later..........Mike
