New Facilities and coaching staff

Unread postby GetUpVault » Fri Dec 28, 2007 12:23 pm

North Park University (www.npuvikings.com) have a brand new facility that opened in 2006 equiped with a 200m indoor track and vault runway off the south end of the track. The runway is 100ft in length - makes for a good indoor season - and the coaching staff is headed by a vaulter himself. This is an opportune place for any vaulter to be able to jump year round in the Chicagoland area and receive good coaching. NPU is a DIII school and opens its doors to athletes of all hieghts and abilities. They are really trying to start something big so take a look.

I've known Pat for a long time and spoke with him at the Summit as I introduced an athlete to him. As great as Brad Walker is, Pat's been producing high level vaulters for quite a number of years before him. Can't go wrong with Pat. Bubba

Not OU apparently!

Ok, last time I'm going to vent on this topic. Just hate to see the tradition of excellence flushed down the toilet.

Not if you want to pole vault! See the thread about OU cutting their vault program.

I would say any school with a real pole vault coach like Kansas, Oral Roberts, USC, UCLA , Virginia Tech to name a few.

Don't overlook D3 schools when considering your college choice. There are many D3 schools that offer a great education and a chance to continue to vault.
Monmouth College (IL) has won the past 3 NCAA DIII national titles on the men's side (Peter Sprecher OD 2007 and Jonny Henkins ID 2008 and OD 2008), Sprecher went 17'4" and Henkins 17'1" OD in 2008 after jumping just over 14' in high school.
On the women's side Jessica White placed third at both 2008 NCAA DIII meets jumping 12'6" after going 10' in hs. Monmouth has new indoor and outdoor facilities and competes against other top teams nationally each year.
The Monmouth men have placed nationally the past 2 years, 3rd OD in 2007 and 2nd ID and 10th OD in 2008. I competed at Monmouth in the 1990's and it was a great experience. Don't miss what many of the quality D3 programs have to offer.

Ouch!! No love to the Hoosiers?!

Coach Jake Wiseman's Credits

Vera Neuenswander - 12' HS - 4.12m Freshman Year, top 10 ranking, Big Ten Champ and NCAA Berth
Stephanie Chin - 12'3'' HS - 4.25m Freshman Year, top 10 ranking and NCAA Berth
Blayne Burkholder - 15'6'' HS - 5.15m Sophomore Year, Big Ten Champ and NCAA Berth
Jeff Coover - 16'6'' HS - 5.36m Junior Year, top 10 ranking NCAA Berth and All-American

Jake hasn't had an athlete yet that hasn't PRed in their first season of college!

Just thought we at least deserved an honorable mention
