Pole Vault Competitions Moved Indoors?

Unread postby rainbowgirl28 » Sun May 03, 2009 1:19 pm

I am trying to keep track of which ones were moved indoors so I can have them on the right list.

So far I know:
Drake Relays elite men
Arkansas women a few weeks ago
BYU Robison Invitational women
GLIAC Women

Was the pole vault moved indoors again at the Arkansas Twilight? I know the whole meet got rained out, so I am guessing yes.
I have an inquiry in about the UW-WSU dual meet yesterday. It was pretty rainy, so I am guessing they went inside.

These meets count for NCAA qualifying, I just want them on my indoor list.

OK I am a retard, the Arkansas meet this weekend has this note on the women's pole vault:
Event took place at the Randall Tyson Track Center
Due to weather

The men doesn't say that so I guess it was outdoors.

UW did pole vault outdoors, they used a board runway on the football field (infield).

The GLIAC women were also moved indoors.

Why? The outdoor runway is all-weather.

Was it just to get a tail-wind?

That outdoor runway seems to always have a half inch of water on parts of it when it's raining (and it was), so that could have been a factor.

The men got to pole vault outdoors - the ladies started to warm up and the wind changed 180 degrees so the got the 2nd pit arranged and ready to go. BUT before the womens vault could get started they had a tornado sighted above Fayetteville and they made everyone go inside the basketball arena to await the tornados passing. When the women went back outside and started to get everything ready to vault the rain came. They moved the ladies pole vault indoors and about 45 minutes later they cancled all of the rest of the events due to the weather / rain. Sorry to ramble but was a wild evening Friday in Fayetteville !!!!!

I heard the Big East men's pole vault was moved indoors part of the way through the competition? Can anyone confirm/deny?

Yes, the Big East men's comp. was moved indoors. They started it outdoors in light rain, then when it got worse they delayed it for half an hour. After this delay it didn't get any better so they had a meeting with the coaches and decided to continue the comp. indoor. I had to clear my opening height outside and then warm up again once it moved indoors.
Bring it.

So was the whole first height done outdoors, and then they moved indoors at the next height?

Question about moving PV indoors. If moved inside for safety, can marks count for qualifying? Every time we discuss this at a meet, we get many different ideas. I've always thought that marks would not count, but I don't know and have never seen anything written. Does anyone know.

Dan

PS - Someone said this past week end at the Jesse Owens Meet that meet management had to contact someone from NCAA and get advance permission, and then marks could count. But again this is just what someone said!

I have heard from several people that the NCAA is accepting marks from pole vault events moved indoors due to weather.

Becca, I am pretty sure the College Division at Drake Relays was outdoor, not indoor, just the invitational portion! I heard from one of the Notre Dame jumpers they had a nice tailwind at Drake when he jumped, so it couldn't have been indoor...

Oh yeah sorry, I meant the Elite men, I know the college men were outdoors.
