hey

use that mark.. 44 (3 lefts) or what ever it is and run back from that mark.. not from the takeoff.. 2 steps (1 left) if you want a total .. of 4 left approach.. 4 steps (2 lefts) for a 5 left appraoch.. 6 steps (3 lefts) for a 6 left approach.. and 8 steps (4 lefts) for a 7 left approach..

so your 3 lefts mark is you guage to see if you are "close" to being on..

if there is more than a foot different in the 6 step (3 left) mark, from short to longer run...you are probaly stretching.. at least when you first make the transition... as you start to create more speed your "six-step check mark" should move out and your grip up.. many times you can move the grip up, on the correct pole, with the same "check".. because when you run more efficently more speed will be created.. and more dynamic plant takeoff results............

12"- 1 foot longer at the check mark, IF.. the vaulter is running correctly and faster...... should = a higher grip of 3 to 4 inches.. physics..........

hope this makes sense and helps...

i have a paper written on moving you steps from short to long that explains it in detail.. when i can i'll either e-mail it on put it on a thread..

later
