The Grand Sierra Resort significantly raised the amount of money they wanted to charge this year. I think they tried hard to go back there, but it just wasn't financially feasible.

You'd all be complaining if it was still there and the registration cost doubled. I'd rather see the event move to a less desirable venue and stay affordable.

Let me remind everyone that the Summit is still on!!!!

I know for a fact that the "committee" that is putting the summit on is working very hard to make the summit as enjoyable as possible..

There may be a couple changes, but that won't take any fun away!

The big plus to the Livestock Arena is that it is also home to the indoor track. UNR used to have a meet the same weekend. If this happened again, this would solve the problem of not counting for NCAA's and could improve collegiate participation.

But maybe the Summit has outgrown Reno...maybe it's time for VEGAS.

I haven't heard any plans for that, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Not sure how interested UNR would be in putting on a meet that early though. Hard to get other schools to come.

In the old days the Summit was always run in conjunction with a meet on the "Bill Cosby Track". I've got video of LoJo running high hurdles. Not much room for pits if that track and HJ approach are on the infield. Bubba

I had a nice talk with Lane from Spirit and he informed me that the track will not be set up yet, so they will have the entire Arena to set up pits for the summit. So in that respect it should be OK.

I would guess that since the Summit is on the schedule for the Livestock Arena and that a regular track meet is not, that it is probably not in the works.

I agree Becca. I don't see how they could do both at the same time. Should be great!!

Is the official hotel going to be the Holiday Inn like back in the day? It's way smaller than the last hotel so you'll want to get a room ASAP.

I hope not. The casino in there blows.

A free way to get around to different hotels (and their casinos) is to take the Shuttle back to the airport, then take the hotel shuttle to whichever hotel you want to visit.
