Re: Ever too late to begin vaulting?
NO!! I'm 56 and just started again after 38 years. I did a lot of research on the net and was fortunate to find a local club and coach about 25 minutes away. GO FOR IT!

Thanks fishman - good advice. I have a good coach so I'm sure that will help a lot too. M.

Re: Not too late to start pole vaulting again!
John - Sounds like excellent advice. It is now Wednesday morning (the day after) and I feel pretty good and have no injuries. I'll definitely take it slow when it comes to actual vaulting heights vs. drills recommended by the coach. M.

Not too late to start pole vaulting again!
After a 38 year lay off I tried pole vaulting again today, thanks to Bob Meeker and his Monument Hill Vault Club in Monument, CO. I'm 56 and last vaulted in high school in 1974, but had a real "blast from the past" feeling today. Started with some drills and kept it pretty simple for my fi...

Re: Colorado State Fair Vault 2011
I recently stopped by the 2012 CO State Fair on 9/1/12 and came across the pole vaulting demonsration. It was a nice surprise and is what started me thinking it would be nice to try again. I'm 56 and haven't vaulted since high school, but am going to give it a try again through USATF-CO.

Good spikes for both PV and sprints
Looking for a spiked shoe that will work well in sprints and the pole vault. Will be using them indoors and outdoors. Just getting back into the sport after many years. For most tracks, is the 5mm best for indoors and the 7mm best for outdoors? Something else? Also noticed that they now come in type...

What pole for a new guy?
I'm 56 and want to get back into vaulting again. I last vaulted in high school in 1974. I've been in touch with some local (CO for me) Masters athletes and have an idea on how to get going again in the sport. But, I have NO IDEA about a pole for me. I'm 5'9" and only about 145 lbs. I'm pretty q...

Re: Place to vault in Denver Metro area?
I'm in a somewhat similar circumstance. 56 years old and want to get back into vaulting, and I live in Castle Rock. I'm told the Above the Bar club in Boulder is a good place to start. I believe they have a satellite club in Monument, closer to us. Will be checking into that and I can report back. M...
