Thanks everybody for the ideas, please feel free to keep them coming, and if anybody is really bored i can email you what i have so far

If you want evidence on that, just do a google news search on pole vault and limit it to papers from the UK.

Everyone forgets about how big track was in the US. As late as the early 80's the NBA championships were tape delayed to show the NCAA T&F Championships live. If anyone is to blame for track's demise in the US it has to be AAU/TAC/USATF.

I blame the NCAA.

Track didn't decline until the scholarship limit was instituted. All of a sudden the private universities (like USC) couldn't field competitive dual meet teams and then there was no more dual meet schedule. The college dual meets were in large part responsible for all the interest in track and field. I remember some walk-on miler from USC became a huge hero for scoring (maybe even winning) the mile in a UCLA-USC dual meet. Drake Stadium would be filled with 46,000 (or maybe it's 26,000) paying customers for the dual meet.

Duly noted. Once you become an acronym you are the problem!!!

Ok, i think i'm going to change my topic, this current one seems to be too little to cover do you think?

I think i should just do a paper on how track is more popular over seas than it is in the States... ;)

What do you guys think?
