Lindsay Regan is flying high as a member of the UCLA cheerleading squad.
When Lindsey Regan graduated from Easton Area High School in 2006 some thought she would compete for a national title in the pole vault as early as her freshman year.

A PIAA state champion and former Express-Times Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Regan was awarded an athletic scholarship to UCLA.

A degenerative back condition that worsened during her freshman and sophomore years led to a change of plans for the 21-year old who is now a cheerleader for the Bruins Spirit Squad.
“Cheerleading was never a thought when I came out here,” said Regan, a four-year member of Easton’s cheering squad. “But my body wasn’t holding up pole vaulting so I was looking for something else to make me happy. I loved being on the field in high school for games so I thought, ‘what the heck, why not try it in college?’”
Regan has relinquished her athletic scholarship and no longer has priority enrollment and the perks that go along with it.

However, she is enjoying having the "best seat in the house" for UCLA football and basketball as well as making appearances in the Los Angeles area.

Regan is feeling better and working out twice a week with UCLA pole vaulting coach Anthony Curran. She might make a return to the track and field team in the spring.
“Practice has been fun,” she said. “I’m practicing with an eighth-grader and also a ninth-grader, who are both just learning. It reminds me of me when I was back in high school. It’s brought my heart back into it.”
Her renewed joy is also tied to improved health. Regan says that the numbness in her arms and legs, the countless trips to doctors and specialists, and the pain shots are all done.
