ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced today that Oral Roberts men’s track & field athlete Jack Whitt (Norman, Okla.) was named January Male Athlete of the Month

Whitt collects the Men’s Athlete of the Month honor after posting two first-place finishes in the pole vault last month. On Jan. 15, the freshman posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 5.50 meters at the Wichita State Invitational. The mark currently ranks third nationally in the pole vault event. A week later at the Razorback Invitational, Whitt cleared an NCAA provisional mark of 5.40 meters to take the top spot against a field of nationally ranked competitors. The Norman, Okla., native earned two Summit League Athlete of the Week honors during the month of January, while his 5.50-meter performance is the top mark in league in the pole vault.
