Texas freshman Natasha Masterson, ranked third in the Big 12 women's pole vault, will miss this week's conference outdoor championships because of a medical condition, a school spokesperson said Monday.
Masterson, a Hendrickson product with a personal-best vault of 13 feet, 9.25 inches this season, will undergo a surgical procedure next Monday for the non-life threatening condition, and is expected to compete next season, the spokesperson said.
Also, freshman sprinter Chalonda Goodman, sidelined with an injury to her left Achilles' tendon, will not require surgery.
She also is expected to make a complete recovery for next season, the spokesperson said.
