Pac 10 preview.

As of now, these are the qualifiers for this wekends Pac 10 championship in Tucson Arizona. The pac 10 is stacked beyond beliefe and to tell you the truth, after watching indoors, alot of these guys have much, much, much higher PR's then what they have jumped so far this outdoor season. With the right conditions and everyone healthy, this is gonna be one great meet. According to PR's, off the top of my head, there are:
3 guys over 18' (of course 1 at 18'8)
1 at 17'11
1 at 17'10
2 over 17'6
2 over 17
Many over 16'5

Posted are there outdoor best ( this year) according to the National list as of 5/03. I'm sure there are a few changes, but overall this is pretty accurate. Arizona is a great place to vault, not to mention they have the option of changing a few directions to accomidate the wind. Guys start at 6:30 pm on Saturday!

My top 5 picks are:
1. Yoo Kim at around 5.55 (depending on the bar progression)
2.Tommy Skipper at the same height, (lets see another 18+ jump outdoors..ehh)
3.Kevin Opalka might have his first 18foot jump if his foot allows him to (see Drake relays) and if he decides to jump of course.
4.Chris Chappel around 5.40 or so, (had way to good of an indoor season), and if he gets his head out of his butt and quits landing on the bar (even though he always leaves them at 80cm) we might have some good jumps.
5. Hmmmmm..........This one could be a toss up between anyone. I know there are a couple guys who can take this crown but, I also know a couple of these guys have been fighting injuries and such. I honestly thin it would be awsome to see somone bust out a PR and throw there name onto that list of 17 foot+ jumpers. Ehh what the hay, I'll just have to have fun with this one.
Dave Murphy from UCLA gets my #5 pick. I love watching this guy jump (even if it does scare the crap outta me). Lots of potential just has to line the jump up right and stay out of the box.

Pac-10's and the West Regionals are Pre-Nationals with the exception of those kids right there in the heart of America, OK, Nebraska, Arkansas, I guess I don't wanna forget LSU

Should be an interesting meet, no telling what could happen!
