I love learning about vaulters i dont know much about like Kevin Brown, Bill Payne etc. What do you guys know about Garth Willard?

If thats who I am thinking of...........I heard a story about him almost going over Niagra Falls after slipping on a rock trying to touch the water..............

He's from Washington state. He jumped 15'3" in high school for Kentwood High School. He and Ron Johnson were training partners and are still great friends. I am not sure on the timeline for everything, but they both vaulted for UW, and they both trained with Rick Baggett for awhile. Garth jumped 18-6.5 and held the record for best from WA until Brad Walker broke it this year.

Garth now lives around Jonesboro, Arkansas with his wife Pam and I think they have 2 kids. Pam was honored at Reno, she was a pioneer in the women's pole vault.

I am sure a number of people could fill you in on the details without butchering them like I do.
