Bruises!!!

Unread postby Fo_Sheezy » Fri Apr 25, 2003 2:42 pm

Am I alone when I complain about the MANY bruises on my left wrist from collapsing my elbow inside the pole like you are supposed to? I wear a thick wrist brace to absorb some of the impact, but its not helping. After a week of not vaulting, my bruises went away, but after 2 days of jumping this week, I now have a “blobâ€Â
Hey is that a pole in your hand or are you just happy to see me?

you think it hurts now? wait til your skin breaks and you're wrist becomes raw and bloody. :crying: every day you jump you rip it only to have it scab and then rip again the next time you vault. i've tried pads, tape, and about anything i can think of but it still happens. but not to worry! it means you're doing things right on the pole! you're staying close and turning on top. consider it a battle scar, a sacred medal you proudly wear every where you go that declares you a pole vaulter.

I only wish i was still in the days of the bruise.....

sores

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Wed May 07, 2003 4:15 pm

For those sores or cracks in your hands..... try...DO NOT LAUGH.... Preparation H Hemmroid cream! My daughter's hands had deep open holes from new grips in gymnastics and her gym coach told her to get some Preparation H to put on it. It relieves "inflamation" and has a pain killer in it. She put it on the open sores before doing bars and before vaulting. It actually helped..and these were deep open HOLES in her palm. So it ought to help cracks! hahaha (in your hands :o )
That's Jodie!!

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,

Also helps the open sores heal more quickly. Hers were so bad she bled on the balance beam at State Championships.... They had to stop the competition and clean and disinfect the beam! Then they required her to tape up her hands. :dazed:
