ATTN: Anyone flying Southwest with poles

Unread postby zack » Wed Jan 07, 2004 5:09 pm

I also mass-emailed about this:

This is a heads-up for anyone flying Southwest with poles.
Becca flew out of Birmingham to Reno this morning and Southwest charged her $35 PER POLE.

On www.southwest.com the policy says:
"Vaulting poles may be transported as checked baggage for a fixed charge of $35.00 each way. Rigid covers or containers cannot be used to transport them."

So if you're flying out of Birmingham, AL they will charge you per pole. They may or may not do this at other airports. Just a warning for anybody flying poles on Southwest to Reno. Also note that "rigid covers or containers cannot be used". They do usually allow the flexible corrugated pipe though.

Also, if anybody has flown poles on Southwest in the past year please email me at zack@polevaultpower.com and tell me how much they charged you.
