Possible Business Venture

Unread postby Lord of the Poles » Mon Aug 16, 2004 4:42 pm

I'm currently researching a business venture in which I'll design (and redesign) websites for local (and smalltime) companies that have been looking to expand into the online world.

I propose this to smalltime and local businesses because I noticed how a lot of places charge an awful lot of money for the designing of the website. I won't have my own servers, but will offer services in activating them, using Web Space Solutions, hopefully. This will also be used for domain registration too, unless I figure out how to do it on my site...heh.

I noticed quite a few sites charging as much as 35 bucks per page, and some 2000 dollars for a custom site... which I just think is absurd for small businesses. The only thing with this, I can see many businesses coming to me (big and small) looking for this because of my cheap prices... So I need to figure out how to limit who comes to me...

But anyways, this post is for helping me choose a name for this company...

Fitchweb is because I live in Fitchburg...so yea, that explains that one... the other two listed on here revolve around spiders, an idea that my friend had, considering that it's the web...

none of those names really seemed to let me know what you were selling if I saw them, maybe you need a slogan to go along with them. that might help people pick one for you.

like FitchWeb the inexpensive solution to Web design...

there is a great need for affordable web site design. Everyone needs a web presecnce now but they cant afford big ticket prices. My Son Bob started a graphics company when he was a senior in high school ( so he could buy poles ! ) Owl Web Designs it is called... They charged an upfront flat fee of $ 300 then $ 50 a page and $ 9.95 to host. It worked out really well because small business's and individuals could afford it ! Provide a good service and you will have more volumn then you can handle... It isnt always about the price. It is what you give to people for that price that will bring you the business. Good luck. I like the name you chose.
