Looking for the best way to set up a runway in the backyard. I am currently planning on having a 4' wide, 120' long asphalt runway put in and using a rollout over it. # 1: does anyone have a better idea?
# 2: What is the best rollout runway to buy and where can I get it? I'd like something 1/2" thick to prevent the pounding on the legs.
# 3: if money wasn't a factor, who could I contact to put in a real runway surface, maybe mondo? I am in Warsaw, NY (western NY--so weather is a factor). Very curious about other opinions & thoughts. Thanks, Aubbs

1> Cut a strip of grass with a lawn mower and make the grass like a putting green in a long straight line.
2> Dig a hole with a shovel and and add a little bit of hard stuff in the bottom
3> Find something you dont mind falling onto...(May vary for people's heights)
4> Stick some 2X4's in the ground and call them standards..of course you will want them all the way back at 80...and maybe 100 if you live in Texas.
5> Grab a pole and get vaultin!
This worked for me...I actually did it in my backyard...lol
I jumped 8ft on a broken crossbar lol

We put one in. We framed a 36" 100' strip. Filled that in with recycled concrete and then over the concrete we put sand. We packed and leveled the sand. Over all of that we put some old rubber flooring from a local hockey center that is about an 1/2" think. We then put a roll out runway from MF or Springco over that. We used it for practice and kids who typically had shin problems said they felt pretty good running on it. I think when all was said and done it ran us maybe $600. Another thing that is said to work slick is recycled black top. you can usaully pack it in pretty good plus when it gets warm it is supposed to pack pretty firm.
hope that helps
