Unread postby newbievaulter » Thu Jul 17, 2003 10:11 pm

does it matter which way you tape your pole (down to up, up to down etc). and what are the hs rules about taping your pole. does the color matter?

Any color is fine. You can tape any direction you want BUT if you tape from the top down (the ridges face up) and the overlap starts to roll....well at that point your tape job is illegal. You can have a max of two layers of tape of uniform thickness (no rolling).

Editing is fun and easy...........i meant two (2)!!! Of course given the topic, that should have been an easy one to figure out. My bad.

Two layers...........if you overlap then there are 2 layers there. Of course MOST officials I have run into allow what is technically 4 layers (counting the overlap).

What a stupid-ass rule! Who gives a s___ if you have 2, 4, 8, or 18 layers of tape on the pole? Like it really gives anyone an advantage! I could care less if people taped their hands to the pole and brought it over the bar with them - more power to them!

So you can basically glue your hands to the pole by the rules, but god forbid you have more than 2 layers of tape and it can't be rolled down! There are so many pointless, sorry, rules in this sport it's ridiculous.

yea and the tape rule is so enforced in my area. the official checks every tape job every meet, but they dont weigh us... REAL SMART. i dont think they have a clue how many kids vault on underrated poles. i think if theyre gonna enforce a rule, it should be one that counts.

Do one piece from bottom to top, where it overlaps evenly on itself, so it is not more than 2 layers at any given spot.
