Tip savers

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to protect your tips when doing pole plants on the track?

I thought about a tennis ball over the plug but I think the fibers would really grab the gritty rubber. I cut the top off a water bottle and put that over the end but could see that wasn't going to hold up.

Any ideas???
