Austin, Texas and Greensboro, North Carolina have been chosen for the two regional outdoor sites for 2010 per Track and Field News.195 schools from the east and 107 schools from the west. A complete list of schools for each site is listed at the trackandfieldnews.com or ncaa.org website.

I thought the whole reason for two regions was to make it more even... Why not 151 and 151?

The US population in general ... and in NCAA colleges ... is skewed to the east.
Perhaps your question should be:
"Why not draw the line between east and west more towards the east ... so that half the NCAA college population is in each half of the country?"

You don't appreciate how small a lot of those east coast DI schools are. There are not as many small DI schools on the west coast. I bet if you looked at the total scholarship money spent per region, it would be more equal.
