I hate to plug stuff, but if you're looking for off/preseason workouts to do, try Crossfit. It is a very generalized program that predominantly lies in the glycolytic spectrum. This means is has some overflow into aerobic endurance as well as power development. It isn't ideal for a pole vaulter since it is very very general (pole vault is about as specific as you get), but it is a helluva lot better than sitting around doing nothing.

I have been doing p90x with all resistance bands because like the vault its resistance. I love it!! I change somethings to make it more vault specific and I still do my sprint workouts. I just sub p90x for my weights. I will start doing a little free weight stuff just to build stabilizer muscles but i feel like resistance is the way to go.
